Bangladesh women had already secured qualification for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup to be held in England and Wales in June–July 2026, and wrapped up the qualifiers with their sixth consecutive victory. On Sunday, they defeated Scotland by 90 runs — Bangladesh’s third-largest margin of victory in terms of runs in women’s T20 internationals.
Batting first in Kirtipur, Nepal, Bangladesh posted 191 for five wickets. Captain Nigar Sultana Joty led from the front with a 56-run knock off 35 balls, hitting five fours and three sixes. In addition, Sobhana Mostary scored 47 off 23 balls, and Dilara Akter added 39 off 28 deliveries.
In reply, Scotland were restricted to 101 for nine. Marufa Akter picked up three wickets for 25 runs, while Shorna Akter claimed two wickets, conceding just 13 runs.
A total of 12 teams will compete in the tournament. Eight teams have already secured their place. From the qualifiers, Bangladesh and the Netherlands have so far secured their places, with two more teams set to book tickets to the main tournament.
