Bangladesh had slipped into trouble after losing the opening match in Chattogram, raising concerns of a home series defeat against Ireland. However, the hosts did not have to face big embarrassment, bouncing back strongly, and securing back-to-back wins in the last two matches to take the series 2–1. The T20 World Cup is scheduled for February 2026 in India and Sri Lanka. Before that, this was the last T20I series for Litton Das’s side.
Ireland opted to bat first after winning the toss but were bowled out for just 117 today at Sagarika. Bangladesh then rode on the batting of Tanzid Hasan, Parvez Hossain Emon, and Saif Hassan to clinch the victory. The Tigers won by 8 wickets with 38 balls to spare.
Before that, Paul Stirling made a promising start with Tim Tector, and even after Tector’s dismissal, Stirling continued to threaten the Bangladesh side. However, Bangladesh’s bowlers tightened control as the innings progressed. Shoriful Islam broke the deadlock by bowling out Tector. After which Shak Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain, and Mustafizur Rahman struck consistently, enjoying a wicket-taking celebration. Rishad and Mustafizur picked up three wickets each, while Shoriful claimed two. Mahedi Hasan and Mohammad Saifuddin took one each.
Stirling scored highest for Ireland with 38 off 27 balls. Besides him, George Dockrell made 19, and Tim Tector added 17.
Tanzid Hasan was outstanding in the field, taking five catches and becoming the first fielder from an ICC full-member nation to take five catches in a T20I innings. Previously, Wedage Malinda of the Maldives and Sweden’s Sedik Sahak had achieved the record.
Tanzid then made a heroic performance with a match-winning half-century. He scored his 11th half-century in 45 T20Is. The left-hander reached his fifty off 35 balls with a six over mid-wicket off Craig Young. Bangladesh got an easy win. He remained unbeaten on 55 off 36 deliveries, hitting four fours and three sixes.
Parvez Hossain Emon also impressed, scoring an unbeaten 33 off 26 balls with one four and three sixes. After Bangladesh lost two wickets for 46, Tanzid and Emon built the innings, adding 73 runs off 50 balls for the third wicket. Earlier, Saif Hassan struck 19 off 14, including two boundaries and a six.
