The Tigers have been struggling in T20 cricket recently. After losing the series to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), they also lost two back-to-back matches against Pakistan, conceding the series. These losses have taken a toll on Bangladesh’s position in the ICC rankings, pushing them down from ninth to tenth.
After losing four T20 matches in a row, Bangladesh’s rating points have dropped by 5, bringing the total down to 220. As a result, the Tigers have slipped one spot in the rankings. Meanwhile, Afghanistan has climbed to ninth place with 223 points. Ireland sits just behind Bangladesh with 202 points.
At the top of the T20 rankings is world champion India with 271 points, followed by Australia (262), England (254), New Zealand (249), and West Indies (246). Pakistan remains in eighth place, but their rating has improved to 229. The UAE, which surprised Bangladesh with a series win, has climbed to 15th place with 183 rating points.
Bangladesh’s best-ever T20 ranking was in 2012 when they broke into the top four after a series win against Ireland. At that time, the Tigers had surpassed major teams such as Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, and India. Only England, South Africa, and Sri Lanka were ranked above them.
