Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the squads for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 in the United Arab Emirates and the home T20 series against the Netherlands, recalling wicketkeeper-batter Quazi Nurul Hasan Sohan after nearly three years. Litton Das will captain the 16-member Bangladesh squad.
Sohan, 31, last played T20 cricket for Bangladesh at the 2022 World Cup in Australia. His most recent international appearance came in a one-day match against New Zealand in September 2023, after which he spent 23 months out of the national side. He has recently captained Rangpur Riders in the Bangladesh Premier League as well as the Bangladesh “A” team. Batter Saif Hassan also returned to the T20 setup.
ODI captain Mehidy Hassan Miraz opted out of the Netherlands series for family reasons. He was also not included in the main squad for the Asia Cup but was named among the standby players.
The home series against the Netherlands begins on August 30, with two more T20 matches on September 1 and 3. The Asia Cup 2025 will open in the UAE on September 9, where Bangladesh’s first game will be against Hong Kong on September 11. The team will then face Sri Lanka on September 13 and Afghanistan on September 16 in the group stage.
