The Tigers lost the three-match series 2-0.

Bangladesh lost the second T20 International to Australia by 7 runs, conceding the three-match series 2–0. Chasing a target of 197, Bangladesh finished on 189 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs.

Australia’s innings got off to a brisk start, with the two openers taking 12 runs off Nasum Ahmed’s first over, including a four and a six. Abdul Gaffar Saqlain was also expensive in the second over, allowing Australia to race to 27 runs in the first two overs.

But Nasum provided Bangladesh with the breakthrough in the third over, trapping opener Josh Inglis leg before wicket. Inglis scored 11 runs off 6 balls before his dismissal.

Cooper Connolly then joined Mitchell Marsh at the crease, but Nahid Rana did not allow him to settle. Connolly was caught by Saif Hassan and sent back to the pavilion. Marsh was also unable to build a substantial innings, falling to Mustafizur Rahman for 20 runs off 19 balls.

Australia recovered from the setbacks through a strong partnership between Tim David and Matt Renshaw. The pair added 97 runs for the fourth wicket, both batting aggressively throughout the stand.

David scored 45 runs from 26 balls, while Renshaw remained unbeaten on 89. David struck two fours and four sixes before being caught off Abdul Gaffar Saqlain’s bowling. Renshaw carried on to the end of the innings and was supported by Joel Davies. Their sixth-wicket partnership added 42 runs from 24 balls to Australia’s total.

Bangladesh’s bowling effort was led by Nasum Ahmed, who claimed two wickets, while Nahid Rana, Mustafizur Rahman, and Abdul Gaffar Saqlain took one wicket each.

In reply, the Tigers made a promising start. But Tanzid Hasan was dismissed for 30 runs off 15 balls in the fifth over, caught and bowled by right-arm spinner Matt Renshaw.

Despite Soumya Sarkar departing shortly after the power play, Saif Hassan and Parvez Hossain Emon kept the scoreboard moving. The pair guided Bangladesh to 130 runs in 13 overs, keeping the chase on track.

The turning point came soon afterwards. In the 13th over, Emon attempted to loft Aaron Hardie over extra cover but was caught by Mitchell Marsh. Bangladesh suffered an even bigger setback in the following over when Saif chased a wide delivery from Joel Davies and chipped a catch to Marsh at cover.

At that stage, Saif, who had scored 42 runs off 33 balls, was Bangladesh’s greatest hope in the chase. Following his dismissal, Bangladesh were unable to regain momentum and ultimately fell short of the target.
