Bangladesh claimed a 1-0 victory over India in an Asia Cup qualifier at Dhaka’s National Stadium on Tuesday, November 18, delivering a rare moment of celebration for the hosts. The decisive goal came in the 13th minute when Sheikh Md. Morsalin converted a pass from Rakib Hossain.
Although both India and Bangladesh were already eliminated from the main tournament, the win sparked jubilation among the Bangladesh players. Rakib, Morsalin, Jamal, and Hamza celebrated on the field with dancing and cheers following the goal.
After five matches, Bangladesh finished the qualifiers with five points, compared to India’s two. Singapore topped Group A with eight points, securing a spot in the Asia Cup main round after defeating Hong Kong 2-1. Bangladesh will play its final qualifier on March 31 next year in Singapore.
