The National Sports Council has dissolved the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s current board of directors and appointed an 11-member ad-hoc committee led by former national captain Tamim Iqbal for three months.
NSC Sports Director Aminul Ehsan announced the decision at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon, hours after presenting findings from an investigation into irregularities in the BCB’s last election.
The council informed the International Cricket Council of the dissolution by email and has submitted the ad hoc committee’s name for approval, Ehsan said.
Aminul Haque, the minister for youth and sports, authorised a five-member investigation committee last month, led by retired Supreme Court Justice AKM Asaduzzaman. The committee examined allegations of manipulation and irregularities in the BCB election process and submitted its report on Sunday.
Two days later, the NSC axed the board headed by Aminul Islam.
