The Netherlands cricket team has arrived in Dhaka ahead of their three-match T20I series against Team Bangladesh, beginning August 30 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. After a brief rest in the capital, the team flew to Sylhet on Wednesday afternoon (August 27).
This is the Netherlands’ first tour of Bangladesh since the 2011 World Cup, when Bangladesh defeated them in Chattogram. The two sides have faced each other in only three ODIs, the most recent in the 2023 World Cup, where Bangladesh lost.
Upon arrival in Sylhet, the visitors will rest today before starting a three-day training camp. The T20I series will be held on August 30, September 1, and September 3, with all three matches scheduled for 6 pm at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
Originally, Bangladesh was set to host India for three ODIs and three T20Is in August, but the BCCI canceled the tour citing security concerns. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) then invited the Netherlands to fill the slot. Bangladesh will also use the series as preparation for the Asia Cup.
