Police release 103 rescued parakeets in Bogura

The birds were rescued at around 11:30 pm on Wednesday, said the senior assistant superintendent of police (Shibganj Circle) in Bogura.

In total, 103 parakeets rescued in Bogura have been released in the presence of Forest Department officials in front of the District Superintendent of Police’s office on Thursday morning.

Bogura District Detective Branch said they received information on Wednesday night that several unscrupulous bird traders were transporting the birds for smuggling. Acting on the tip-off, police searched a bus travelling from Naogaon to Dhaka in the Thanthania area of the district town, and subsequently rescued 103 parakeets kept in 10 plastic cages from the luggage compartment of the bus.

Rabiul Islam, senior assistant superintendent of police (Shibganj Circle) in Bogura, said the birds were rescued at around 11:30 pm on Wednesday.
