Sylhet’s Companiganj upazila administration has announced the indefinite closure of the Sada Pathor tourist destination due to continuous rainfall, flash floods descending from upstream hills and adverse weather conditions. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Robin Mia confirmed the matter on Sunday.
Floodwaters from the hills have inundated shops and businesses surrounding the tourist site, creating a hazardous situation across the area, according to local sources. Considering the visitors’ safety, the administration has decided to temporarily close the destination.
The UNO said tourists have been advised not to visit the spot until conditions return to normal. Once the water current subsides and weather conditions stabilise, the decision on reopening the tourist spot will be taken.
The administration also stated that the measure has been taken as a precautionary step to prevent any accidents amid the ongoing adverse conditions.
