The flash flood situation in the Haor basin of northeastern Bangladesh has deteriorated. Water levels in the Manu River in Moulvibazar and the Bhugai-Kangsha River in Netrokona are flowing above the danger level, according to a Bangladesh Water Development Board forecast issued at 6:00 pm on Tuesday.
The agency stated that the water level of the Manu River at the Moulvibazar point is flowing 110 centimetres above the pre-monsoon danger level. Meanwhile, the Bhugai-Kangsha River at the Jariajanjail point in Netrokona is flowing 28 centimetres above the pre-monsoon danger level.
As water levels continue to rise in low-lying areas of the Haor region, local authorities and relevant stakeholders have been advised to remain alert.
