Flash flood in Haor region; two rivers flowing above danger level

As water levels continue to rise in low-lying areas of the Haor region, local authorities and relevant stakeholders have been advised to remain alert.

The flash flood situation in the Haor basin of northeastern Bangladesh has deteriorated. Water levels in the Manu River in Moulvibazar and the Bhugai-Kangsha River in Netrokona are flowing above the danger level, according to a Bangladesh Water Development Board forecast issued at 6:00 pm on Tuesday.

The agency stated that the water level of the Manu River at the Moulvibazar point is flowing 110 centimetres above the pre-monsoon danger level. Meanwhile, the Bhugai-Kangsha River at the Jariajanjail point in Netrokona is flowing 28 centimetres above the pre-monsoon danger level.

As water levels continue to rise in low-lying areas of the Haor region, local authorities and relevant stakeholders have been advised to remain alert.
