Renowned Bangladeshi singer Runa Laila is set to receive the prestigious ‘Minar-E-Dilli’ award in recognition of her outstanding contribution to music. The honour will be presented to her at the 15th Delhi International Film Festival in Delhi.
Reacting to the award, Runa Laila wrote on social media on Wednesday, “Many thanks to the Delhi International Film Festival authorities for inviting me to be honoured with the prestigious ‘Minar-E-Dilli’ award. Looking forward to it… see you there!”
The festival will be held in New Delhi at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts under India’s Ministry of Culture, and the Dr Ambedkar International Centre. Renowned filmmaker and Dadasaheb Phalke Award recipient Adoor Gopalakrishnan will inaugurate the event on May 4. The five-day festival will continue until May 8 and will showcase around 175 films from more than 60 countries.
The ‘Minar-E-Dilli’ honour is one of the festival’s most prestigious recognitions. Previous recipients include distinguished personalities such as Sharmila Tagore, Subhash Ghai, Shatrughan Sinha, and Randhir Kapoor.
