Museum honoring Ayub Bachchu to be built in Dhaka’s Moghbazar

The ‘Ayub Bachchu Museum and Cultural Hub’ will preserve the rock legend’s life, music, and legacy.

A museum dedicated to iconic singer and guitarist Ayub Bachchu is set to be built in Dhaka’s Moghbazar area. To be named the “Ayub Bachchu Museum and Cultural Hub,” the project will showcase the legendary musician’s life, career, and artistic journey.

The initiative, undertaken by the Ayub Bachchu Foundation, is already underway. Ferdous Akhter, president of the foundation and the late artist’s wife, said that both government and private sponsorships are essential for completing the project.

Abdullah Al Masud, the foundation’s general secretary and a longtime collaborator of Ayub Bachchu, said the museum will display not only his guitars but also personal memorabilia such as T-shirts, hats, caps, and sunglasses. A recording studio modeled after “AB Kitchen,” the artist’s personal studio, will also be set up. Visitors will be able to relive his concerts through virtual reality experiences.

The plan also includes a musical cafe, an auditorium, and an open studio for emerging musicians. The foundation hopes the space will help young music enthusiasts connect more deeply with Ayub Bachchu’s life and musical philosophy.

According to foundation sources, the museum will chronicle his artistic journey—from his early years in Chattogram to his rise in Dhaka, the formation of his band LRB, and highlights from his most popular songs and concerts.

Music experts say the project will serve not only as a memorial but also as a cultural inspiration hub, encouraging future generations to appreciate and engage with Bangladeshi music.
