Six films hit theaters this Eid-ul-Azha, but Utshob—one of the releases—stood out not through flashy marketing, but through its heartfelt storytelling and audience reaction. While much of the pre-release buzz centered around Shakib Khan’s Taandob, Utshob quietly surprised many after its release. Built around a simple family narrative, the film struck an emotional chord with viewers, transforming into an experience rather than just a screening. Full houses, teary eyes, and glowing praise—this is the real poster for Utshob now.

For the past three days, theaters across Dhaka have been selling out every show. Many viewers came with their families. Most walked out with a similar reaction: “We simply hadn’t expected it to be this good.”

One audience member said, “This Eid, we finally got a cinema truly meant to watch with the whole family. This is what family entertainment is all about.”

Another shared, “There needed to be a film like Utshob alongside Taandob. It pulled me back into nostalgia. It’s going to become a classic cult favorite.”

Some went even further, saying, “If you haven’t seen Utshob, it feels like you haven’t seen any cinema this Eid!”

Director Tanim Noor is overwhelmed by the response. “This is truly an extraordinary experience. Utshob has created a festival within Eid itself. Every show is houseful, people are talking about it, sharing it with others—that’s our biggest achievement,” he said.

He added, “From the start, we’ve said this is a film not meant to be watched without family. Audiences have respected that and are coming with their families—and they’re enjoying it.”

Produced by Dope Productions and Laughing Elephant, Utshob was written by Tanim Noor, Ayman Asib Shadhin, Susmoy Sarkar, and Samiul Bhuiyan. The film boasts a stellar cast, including Zahid Hasan, Jaya Ahsan, Aupee Karim, Chanchal Chowdhury, Afsana Mimi, Tariq Anam Khan, Azad Abul Kalam, Intekhab Dinar, Sunerah Binte Kamal, Soumya Jyoti, and Sadia Ayman.
