The veteran artist passed away this morning (Saturday, February 15) at the age of 83.

The lyricist of ‘Ami Banglay Gaan Gai’, renowned composer and musician Pratul Mukhopadhyay, has passed away.

The veteran artist passed away this morning (Saturday, February 15) at the age of 83 at the SSKM Hospital in Kolkata, where he had been undergoing treatment.

Early in January, his health deteriorated suddenly, prompting his hospitalization. According to family sources, he was admitted to the ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) department after experiencing nosebleeds.

Later, toward the end of January, Pratul Mukhopadhyay’s health worsened again. He suddenly began experiencing difficulty breathing and suffered a heart attack amid a severe lung infection. The artist was quickly moved to the cardiology department, where he was given high-dose antibiotics.

It was learned that Pratul underwent abdominal surgery at SSKM Hospital. Shortly after the surgery, several physical complications arose. Later, he suffered a heart attack, which further complicated his condition. For the past two weeks, this legendary singer had been receiving treatment in the hospital’s ICU. Finally, he passed away today, leaving behind an indelible mark in the world of music.
