Shahjalal airport cancels 18 more flights as Riyadh stays shut

The aviation authority said 4,851 passengers were stranded as flights remained suspended because operations at Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport had yet to resume.

Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh cancelled 18 more flights at Dhaka’s Shahjalal International Airport on Monday after Houthi attacks kept Riyadh’s King Khalid airport closed, leaving 4,851 passengers stranded.

The authority’s public relations division said the flights were scrapped because operations at Riyadh airport have yet to resume.

Ten flights had already been cancelled over the previous three days up to Monday morning, taking the total to 28.

The cancelled flights include 16 IndiGo services, four Biman Bangladesh Airlines flights, three Saudi Airlines flights, three Riyadh Air and two US-Bangla flights.

Further steps will be taken once Riyadh airport resumes operations, CAAB said.
