The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) raised domestic gold prices on Saturday citing a rise in the cost of pure gold in the local market, reversing two consecutive rounds of cuts.
The association increased the price of 22‑carat gold by BDT 5,482 per bhori (11.664 grammes) to BDT 228,556, effective from 10 am. Silver prices were also lifted, with the 22‑carat rate rising BDT 175 to BDT 4,666 per bhori.
Under the new schedule, 21‑carat gold was set at BDT 218,292 per bhori, 18‑carat at BDT 187,440, and traditional gold at BDT 153,148.
For silver, 21‑carat was fixed at BDT 4,432 per bhori, 18‑carat at BDT 3,791 and traditional silver at BDT 2,858.
The association said in its notice that the revision was driven by an increase in the price of pure gold locally and a review of overall market conditions.
