In July, the first month of the current 2026–27 fiscal year, Bangladesh exported goods worth $4.72 billion to the global market, with a 12.49 percent increase compared to June. But export earnings decreased by 0.90 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.
On Monday, the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) stated in a press release that the ready-made garment (RMG) sector regained significant monthly momentum at the beginning of the new fiscal year. In July, export earnings from this sector stood at around $3.88 billion, with a 14.73 percent increase compared to the previous month. In June, exports in this sector were around $3.38 billion.
According to EPB data, goods worth approximately $4.20 billion were exported from Bangladesh in June 2026. Conversely, in July 2025, exports were nearly $4.77 billion.
Compared to the same period of last year, ready-made garment exports decreased by 1.92 percent. In July 2025, ready-made garment exports stood at roughly $3.96 billion. The report noted that this situation arose due to the continuous impact of inventory adjustments by buyers in the global market.
In July, the United States topped the list of export destinations for Bangladesh, with $918.74 million worth of goods, which is 0.25 percent higher compared to the same period of last year. Among major markets, this was an area of positive growth.
Meanwhile, Germany and the United Kingdom maintained their positions as the second and third largest export destinations, respectively. In July, exports to Germany reached $495.3 million, while exports to the UK stood at $478.42 million. Among non-traditional and potential markets, export growth in July was highest in India and Saudi Arabia. Exports to India grew by 15.30 percent, and to Saudi Arabia by 10.64 percent.
