Gold price rises BDT 4,432 per bhori after two straight drops

BAJUS reiterated that VAT is included in the sale price

The new price, an increase of BDT 4,432, took effect from 10 am, BAJUS said in a statement.

Gold prices in Bangladesh rose on Monday, reversing two consecutive declines, with the rate for 22-carat gold set at BDT 230,772 per bhori (11.664 grams) including VAT, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association said.

The new price, an increase of BDT 4,432, took effect from 10 am, BAJUS said in a statement, citing a rise in the local price of pure gold.

Rates for other purities were also adjusted. Per bhori, 21-carat gold was set at BDT 220,391, 18-carat at BDT 189,248 and traditional gold at BDT 154,606.

The association reiterated that VAT is included in the sale price and jewellers may not levy it separately. Existing exchange and purchase rules remain unchanged.

The adjustment follows a BDT 2,216 per bhori cut on June 20, when the 22-carat rate was set at BDT 226,340. Monday’s increase brings the total number of gold price adjustments this year to 79 with 40 rises, 38 cuts and one VAT revision. In the previous year, prices were adjusted 93 times — 64 increases and 29 decreases.

Silver prices were left unchanged, BAJUS said.
