The Bangladesh Jewellers Association lowered the price of 22-carat gold on Wednesday by BDT 5,482 per bhori (11.664 grams) to BDT 225,290 including VAT, citing a decline in local pure gold prices. The new rate took effect from 10 am.
BAJUS also set 21-carat gold at BDT 215,142 per bhori, 18-carat at BDT 184,758 and traditional gold at BDT 150,932, all inclusive of VAT.
The adjustment came two days after the association raised the price by BDT 4,432 to BDT 230,772 on June 22.
Wednesday’s decrease marked the 80th gold price revision so far in 2026, with cuts now totalling 39 against 40 increases and one VAT adjustment. Over the whole of 2025, the price was adjusted 93 times including 64 increases and 29 decreases.
Silver prices were lowered by BDT 408 per bhori, with 22-carat silver fixed at BDT 4,841. BAJUS set 21-carat silver at BDT 4,607 per bhori, 18-carat silver at BDT 3,966 and traditional silver at BDT 2,974.
