Gold and silver prices in Bangladesh were reduced on Saturday after a fall in the cost of pure gold, the Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS) said in a notice. The price of 22-carat gold dropped by BDT 5,482 to BDT 229,373 per bhori (11.664 grams).
The new rates took effect at 10 am, BAJUS said, attributing the cut to a decline in the price of pure gold, known locally as tejabi.
Under the revised list, 21-carat gold stands at BDT 218,684 a bhori, 18-carat at BDT 187,674 and traditional-method gold at BDT 152,857.
Silver prices were reduced alongside gold. A bhori of 22-carat silver now costs BDT 5,249, while 21-carat is BDT 4,957, 18-carat is BDT 4,257 and traditional-method silver is BDT 3,208.
