The Bangladesh Jewellers Association on Thursday cut 22-carat gold price by BDT 2,216 per bhori to BDT 223,074 including VAT, the second reduction in 24 hours. The new rate took effect at 10 am.
Under revised prices, 21-carat gold will now sell at BDT 213,043 per bhori, 18-carat at BDT 182,951 and traditional gold at BDT 149,474.
The association cited a further decline in local pure gold prices in its statement. Earlier, on Wednesday, BAJUS had lowered the price by BDT 5,482 to BDT 225,290 including VAT.
Thursday’s adjustment brings the total number of gold price revisions this year to 81, split evenly between 40 increases and 40 cuts, with one VAT adjustment. Last year, the price was changed 93 times — 64 increases and 29 reductions.
Silver prices was also brought down, with 22-carat silver fixed at BDT 4,491 per bhori, 21-carat at BDT 4,257, 18-carat at BDT 3,674 and traditional silver at BDT 2,741.
