Gold prices in Bangladesh rise yet again

Prices of silver remain unchanged at their record high

Starting Sunday (October 5), the price of 22-carat gold will climb to BDT 197,576 per bhori (11.664 grams).

Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) has raised gold prices again, setting a new record in the domestic market. Starting Sunday (October 5), the price of 22-carat gold will climb to BDT 197,576 per bhori (11.664 grams), according to a BAJUS notice issued late Saturday.

The association said the increase was prompted by a rise in the price of pure gold in the local market.

Under the new rates, 21-carat gold will cost BDT 188,595 per bhori, 18-carat gold BDT 161,651, and traditional gold BDT 134,253. In addition, buyers must pay a government-mandated 5 percent VAT and a minimum 6 percent wage set by BAJUS, though labor costs may vary depending on design and quality.

Just days earlier, on September 29, BAJUS had set the price of 22-carat gold at BDT 195,384 per bhori, with lower grades priced accordingly.

Prices of silver remain unchanged at their record high. The rate for 22-carat silver has been fixed at BDT 3,628 per bhori, while 21-carat silver is priced at BDT 3,453, 18-carat at BDT 2,963, and traditional silver at BDT 2,228.
