Bangladesh Bank warned against 22 illegal online payment aggregator platforms operating without licences. In a warning issued on Sunday, the central bank advised the public not to conduct transactions through these platforms.
The platforms identified by Bangladesh Bank are BohudurPay, ZiniPay, PayTiller, BengaliPay, Payora BD, SohojPay BD, EasyPayWay, AK Pay, BD PAY, ShajgarPay, AsthaPay/CPay, UddoktaPay, Walletmix, BttPay, Easy Pay Automation, UniquePay BD, BD AUTO PAY, RH Pay BD, EzePay, AutoPay Ltd, Biswasto and PipraPay.
The warning said providing payment services by any person, institution or company without approval from Bangladesh Bank is entirely illegal and constitutes a punishable offence under the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2024. Under Section 4(2) of the law, no person, institution or company may operate a payment system or provide payment services without a licence from Bangladesh Bank. Section 37(1) of the same law provides for punishment for the offence.
The central bank said the Payment Systems Supervision Department of Bangladesh Bank had identified these entities as providing payment aggregator services through online platforms without licences.
Bangladesh Bank has strongly advised the public to refrain from operating through these unlicensed platforms and conducting transactions on them to protect their hard-earned money and avoid legal risks.
