Biman Bangladesh Airlines posts net profit of around BDT 7.85 billion in FY 2024–25

With this performance, Biman Bangladesh Airlines has maintained profitability for the fifth consecutive year and has posted net profits in nine of the last 10 fiscal years.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines disclosed the detailed income and expenditure accounts for FY 2024–25 at its annual general meeting (AGM), chaired by Sk Bashir Uddin, chairman of Biman’s board of directors.

Members of the board and shareholder representatives from several ministries attended the meeting, including officials from the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Cabinet Division, and the Ministry of Commerce.

During the fiscal year, Biman Bangladesh Airlines generated total revenue of BDT 115.59 billion, representing a 9.46 percent increase over the previous year. The airline recorded an operating profit of BDT 16.02 billion, while net profit rose to around BDT 7.85 billion—an increase of 178 percent compared with the preceding fiscal year. With this performance, Biman has maintained profitability for the fifth consecutive year and has posted net profits in nine of the last 10 fiscal years.

In FY 2024–25, the airline operated 21 aircraft across 30 domestic and international destinations, carrying a total of around 3.38 million passengers. It also transported 43,918 metric tonnes of cargo, earning BDT 9.25 billion—up 45.21% from the previous fiscal year.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines, a state-owned enterprise, is operated entirely on its own income. Over its 54-year history, the airline has not received any government subsidy. In January 2025, Biman also achieved the highest ticket sales in its history, according to officials.
