Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin has announced that the new retail price for loose soybean oil has been set at BDT 189 per liter. He shared this information with the media on Tuesday (April 15) after a meeting to review the overall situation around edible oil imports and supply.
According to the latest decision, the price of a 5-liter bottle of soybean oil has been raised to BDT 922, up from the previous price of BDT 852. Additionally, the new prices for loose soybean and palm oil have also been fixed at BDT 169 per liter, up from BDT 157.
Just a couple of days earlier, on April 13, the Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Vanaspati Manufacturers Association had issued a notice saying that mill owners were raising the price of soybean oil by BDT 14 per liter.
For context, the last time the price of bottled soybean oil was raised was on December 9 last year. At that time, the price was set at BDT 175 per liter.
