After rising five consecutive times, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has finally announced a reduction in the gold prices in the domestic market. The price has been reduced by up to BDT 14,600 per bhori. As a result, the price of premium-quality gold has fallen to BDT 271,000 per bhori, down from BDT 286,000 recorded just a day earlier. That was the highest gold price in Bangladesh’s history.
BAJUS disclosed the revised rates in a statement issued on Friday (January 30). The new prices came into effect from 10:45 am on the same day. The association said the decline followed a drop in the price of tejabi gold (pure gold), which led to a downward adjustment in the local market.
Under the revised pricing structure, the price of 22-carat gold, considered the highest quality, now stands at BDT 271,363 per bhori. The price of 21-carat gold has been set at BDT 259,000 per bhori, while 18-carat gold is priced at BDT 222,024 per bhori, and traditionally produced gold is now selling at BDT 182,833 per bhori.
Meanwhile, silver prices have also been reduced alongside gold. Under the new rates, 22-carat silver is priced at BDT 7,757 per bhori. The price of 21-carat silver has been fixed at BDT 7,407 per bhori, 18-carat silver at BDT 6,357 per bhori, and silver produced under the traditional method at BDT 4,782 per bhori.
