Gold price increases by BDT 2,216 per bhori

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) stated that this adjustment was made due to an increase in the price of pure gold, or tejabi gold, in the local market.

Gold prices have risen in the domestic market following two consecutive rounds of reductions. This time, the price has increased by BDT 2,216 per bhori. Consequently, the price of one bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold, including VAT, has been set at BDT 224,182.

In a press release, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) stated that this adjustment was made due to an increase in the price of pure gold, or tejabi gold, in the local market. The new prices are effective from 10:00 am on Friday.

This decision was made during a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring. The information was later announced in a notification signed by the committee chairman, Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin.

Previously, yesterday, BAJUS had reduced the price by BDT 3,324, setting it at BDT 221,966. On July 6, the price was reduced by BDT 3,266. In total, the price of gold had decreased by BDT 6,590 over these two rounds.

The price per bhori of 22-carat gold will be BDT 224,182, according to the new prices. Additionally, BAJUS has set the price for 21-carat gold at BDT 214,093, 18-carat gold at BDT 183,883, and traditional method gold at BDT 150,232 per bhori.

With this, the price of gold has been adjusted 89 times in the country’s market this year, with 44 increases, 44 decreases and one VAT adjustment. Last year, there were a total of 93 adjustments, during which gold prices were increased 64 times and decreased 29 times.

Along with gold, the price of silver has also increased in the domestic market. According to the new decision, the price of one bhori of 22-carat silver will be BDT 4,724. Additionally, the price has been set at BDT 4,549 for 21-carat, BDT 3,907 for 18-carat, and BDT 2,916 per bhori for the traditional method.

So far this year, the price of silver has been adjusted 55 times in the domestic market, with prices increased 28 times and decreased 27 times. Last year, silver prices were adjusted a total of 13 times, with 10 increases.
