Police in Cox’s Bazar recovered the body of a local Jatiotabadi Chhatradal leader about four hours after he was taken away by several men in a white microbus from Chakaria.

The body of Mohammad Isfatul Islam Jisan was found this morning beside the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway at Khuntakhali Kachhapia Dhala. Jisan, a resident of Lotni in Kakara union, Chakaria upazila, was senior joint convener of the Kakara union unit of Chhatradal.

Local and family sources said the men took him from in front of Saber Sawdagar’s shop in Lotni late at night. His body was found near the highway about four hours later.

Chakaria police station officer-in-charge Arifur Rahman said police were investigating why Jisan had been abducted and what caused his death, and were working to identify and arrest those involved.

Police have sent the body to the mortuary at Cox’s Bazar District Sadar Hospital for an autopsy.
