Bangladesh’s consulate general in Los Angeles hosted a high-level roundtable with leading technology chief executives and senior executives on Sunday to discuss technology investment and strategic partnerships for Bangladesh’s growth, the foreign ministry said.

A delegation led by Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, adviser to the prime minister for finance and planning, took part. It included Shama Obaed Islam, state minister for foreign affairs; Boby Hajjaj, state minister for primary and mass education; and Rehan Asif Asad, adviser to the prime minister for posts, telecommunications and information technology and science and technology.

Kazi Muhammad Jabed Iqbal, Bangladesh’s consul general in Los Angeles, and officials from the prime minister’s office also attended.

The roundtable, titled “Technology Investment and Strategic Partnerships for Bangladesh’s Growth”, was held at the Four Seasons Hotel Silicon Valley in California and moderated by Shamim Mohammad, executive vice president and chief information and technology officer at CarMax.

The discussion focused on practical opportunities for Bangladesh in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, semiconductor design and manufacturing, digital infrastructure, education and skills development, venture capital, healthcare technology, earth observation and advanced manufacturing.

Participants included Amjad Masad, founder and chief executive of Replit; Jay Chaudhry, founder, chairman and chief executive of Zscaler; and Dr Omar Ishrak, former chairman of Intel and former chairman and chief executive of Medtronic.

Senior executives, entrepreneurs and investors from the semiconductor, AI, cybersecurity, space technology, venture capital, digital infrastructure and advanced technology sectors also joined.
