Mirza Fakhrul’s Thakurgaon-1 parliamentary seat falls vacant

As per Article 50(4) of the Constitution, the parliamentary seat in Thakurgaon-1 became vacant after Mirza Fakhrul assumed office as President of Bangladesh.

The Thakurgaon-1 parliamentary seat has fallen vacant following Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s assumption of office as the President of Bangladesh.

As per Article 50(4) of the Constitution, his parliamentary seat in Thakurgaon-1 became vacant upon his assumption of office as President of Bangladesh, according to a Gazette notification issued by the Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat on Saturday.

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir assumed office as the 23rd President of Bangladesh at 7:30 pm on August 21, 2026. Earlier, he was elected President in the presidential election held on August 20 at the National Parliament.
