Eight more children die from measles, symptoms

The number of confirmed measles-related deaths has reached 92, while 536 children have died after showing measles-like symptoms, according to the latest data.

Eight more children died from measles and measles-like symptoms in Bangladesh during the 24 hours from 8:00 am Sunday to 8:00 am Monday. Of them, one child died from confirmed measles, while seven died after exhibiting measles-like symptoms. The cumulative death toll has now risen to 628.

The Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services disclosed the information in a statement on Monday.

The number of confirmed measles-related deaths has reached 92, while 536 children have died after showing measles-like symptoms, according to the latest data.

The confirmed measles fatality occurred in the Dhaka Division. Among those who died with symptoms, two were from Dhaka, while one death each was reported in Rajshahi Division, Sylhet Division, Chattogram Division, Mymensingh Division, and Rangpur Division.

During the past 24 hours, 93 children were confirmed to have contracted measles. The total number of confirmed measles cases has now reached 9,779.

Over the same period, 1,092 children were found to be exhibiting measles-like symptoms, bringing the total number of suspected infections to 80,104.
