Former Dhaka University professor CR Abrar is set to join the advisory council of the interim government. The swearing-in ceremony will take place at Bangabhaban tomorrow, Wednesday (March 5), at 11 am.
He is likely to be assigned to the Ministry of Education, according to Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam. He shared this information during a briefing at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka on Tuesday afternoon (March 4).
“There will be a swearing-in ceremony tomorrow. The new adviser will take the oath—Professor CR Abrar. He was a professor at Dhaka University and has written extensively. He will be sworn in tomorrow, and we expect him to take charge of the education ministry,” the Press Secretary said.
He added, “Professor Wahiduddin Mahmud had been saying for a while that he could not handle two ministries simultaneously. That’s why Professor CR Abrar is joining us. He is likely to take charge of the education ministry.”
CR Abrar is a former professor of international relations at Dhaka University and the executive director of the Refugee and Migratory Movements Research Unit (RAMMRU).
