India to resume tourist visas for Bangladeshis from June 28

New High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi says applications will be accepted initially at centres in Dhaka, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Sylhet and Khulna

Dinesh Trivedi, who presented his credentials to Bangladesh’s President Mohammed Shahabuddin earlier in the day, said that applications for tourist visas would be accepted from June 28.

India will resume tourist visa services for Bangladeshi citizens from Sunday, June 28, the newly appointed Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka announced on Thursday.

Dinesh Trivedi, who presented his credentials to Bangladesh’s President Mohammed Shahabuddin earlier in the day, told a press conference at the Indian Visa Application Centre in Dhaka’s Jamuna Future Park that applications for tourist visas would be accepted from June 28. Medical visas for urgent humanitarian cases would continue, he added.

“We are resuming our normal visa operations. Applications for tourist visas can be submitted from Sunday, 28th of June 2026,” Trivedi said. “We will continue to facilitate medical visas in urgent cases on humanitarian considerations.”

Tourist visa applications will initially be accepted at the five existing centres in Dhaka, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Sylhet and Khulna. Trivedi said operations would be extended to other cities in phases. “We hope that this will further strengthen the people-to-people ties between our two sovereign nations,” he said.
