Hitu Sheikh to be remanded for 7 days, others for 5

Following the hearing, Senior Judicial Magistrate Abdul Matin approved a 7-day remand for Hitu Sheikh and a 5-day remand for three others accused.

The Magura Chief Judicial Magistrate Court has granted a 7-day remand for Hitu Sheikh, the prime accused in the rape of a 8-year-old child who was visiting her sister’s home in Magura. The court also approved a 5-day remand for the accused’s wife and two sons. Chief Judicial Magistrate Abdul Matin granted the remand orders.

Magura Sadar Police Station’s Inspector (Investigation) Md Alauddin, filed a petition for a 7-day remand to interrogate the accused on Sunday (March 9). Due to security concerns, the accused were presented before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court after midnight. Following the hearing, Senior Judicial Magistrate Abdul Matin approved a 7-day remand for Hitu Sheikh and a 5-day remand for his wife Jayeda Begum, elder son Ratul Sheikh, and younger son Sojib Sheikh.

Notably, last Thursday (March 6), an eight-year-old child was raped while visiting her sister’s home in Nanduail village of Magura town. The child’s condition is critical and she has yet to regain consciousness. She is currently in the ICU of Dhaka CMH Hospital in an unconscious state.
