Four more children died with measles symptoms across the country in the 24 hours between 8:00 am on Sunday and 8:00 am on Monday, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The latest deaths bring the total number of child fatalities from confirmed measles and measles-like symptoms to 716 over the past three and a half months.
During the past 24 hours, 1,145 children were affected by confirmed measles or measles-like symptoms. Of them, 141 were confirmed to have measles, while 1,004 developed measles-like symptoms. The cumulative number of confirmed and suspected cases has also reached 112,062 over the past three and a half months.
Among the four children who died with measles-like symptoms, two were from Dhaka, one from Sylhet, and one from Mymensingh.
The information was released today in the DGHS’s measles situation report.
Since March 15 this year, a total of 100,211 children have developed measles-like symptoms, while 11,851 children have been confirmed to have measles, according to the DGHS. During the same period, 83,806 children were admitted to hospitals with measles-like symptoms, and 80,193 were discharged after recovering.
In the past 24 hours, 962 children were admitted to the hospital with confirmed measles, while 1,041 recovered and were discharged.
