In the proposed budget for FY 2025–26, the government has significantly reduced allocations for the primary and mass education sector while increasing funding for secondary, higher, technical, and madrasah education.
Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed presented the BDT 7.89 trillion budget on Monday (June 2) at 3:00 pm. The proposed budget is around BDT 70 billion lower than the original budget for the ongoing fiscal year, but BDT 460 billion higher than the revised budget.
For the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, the proposed allocation is BDT 354.03 billion—down by BDT 34.16 billion from the BDT 388.19 billion initially allocated for FY 2024–25. In the revised budget for the current fiscal year, this allocation was already cut to BDT 351.23 billion.

The Technical and Madrasah Education Division is set to receive BDT 126.78 billion in the proposed budget, up from BDT 117.83 billion in the original budget for FY 2024–25, which was later revised to BDT 99.53 billion.
