A 17-member delegation of Bangladeshi health professionals is participating in a two-week training programme in China’s Yunnan province.

The fifth Bangladesh Medical and Health Professional Exchange and Training Program, jointly organised by the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Yunnan Province and the Kunming Medical University, opened at the medical university on August 30 and runs until September 12.

Shahanaj Akhter Ranu, Bangladesh’s consul general in Kunming, said at the opening ceremony that such programmes enhance professional competencies and strengthen bilateral partnerships.

The training includes classroom instruction and field visits to local hospitals and pharmaceutical companies in Kunming, giving participants first-hand exposure to advanced medical practices, facility management and pharmaceutical production processes.

Arshad Miah, director-general of the Directorate General of Health Services under Bangladesh’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, is leading the delegation.

Ma Zuoxin, deputy director-general of the Foreign Affairs Office of Yunnan Province; Xia Xueshan, president of Kunming Medical University; and officials from Yunnan’s education department attended the opening ceremony alongside the trainees.
