Thousands of people joined a colourful procession in Dhaka on Wednesday morning to mark Eid-e-Miladunnabi, the birth anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad.
The procession, organised by Anjuman-E-Rahmania Mainia Maizbhandaria, began at the west gate of Suhrawardy Udyan and passed through Doel Chattar, Shikkha Bhaban and Secretariat Road before returning to the park.
Shah Sufi Syed Saifuddin Ahmed Al Hasani Maizbhandari, president of the organisation, led the march.
Crowds began gathering at Suhrawardy Udyan before dawn, and by morning the park had turned into a large gathering.
Participants carried placards, colourful festoons and national flags as the procession moved through the capital’s streets.
