The per capita income of people in Bangladesh is now $2,738, according to the final figures for the fiscal year 2023-24. This represents a decrease of $46 compared to the provisional estimate, which had pegged the per capita income at $2,784.
On Monday (February 10), the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) released this information on its website. According to BBS, the average per capita income in the country has decreased for the third consecutive year. In the fiscal year 2021-22, the per capita income was $2,793, the highest ever recorded.
However, in terms of local currency, per capita income has increased. It now exceeds BDT 300,000, standing at BDT 304,102. In the 2022-23 fiscal year, per capita income was BDT 273,360.
