India’s Border Security Force (BSF) allegedly attempted to push 17 people, including men, women, and children, into Bangladesh through the border area of Sapahar in Naogaon district. Due to the prompt intervention of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), they were unable to enter Bangladesh. The incident occurred at around 7:30 am on Friday in the Hapania border area of Sapahar Upazila.

Members of the 88 BSF Pannachhara Camp attempted to push the 17 individuals into Bangladesh through Border Pillar 238/MP at the Hapania border, according to sources from the Naogaon Battalion (16 BGB). Upon receiving the information, a patrol team from the Hapania Border Outpost (BOP) rushed to the scene and identified the individuals at the Indian side of the zero line.

Of the 17 people, six are men, six are women, and five are children. They are currently staying at the zero line.

Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Ariful Islam Masum, commanding officer of the Naogaon Battalion (16 BGB), said that patrol activities in the area have been intensified following the incident. “No one would be allowed to enter Bangladesh illegally, and efforts are underway to send the individuals back to Indian territory,” he added.
