Aminul Haque, state minister for Youth and Sports, remarked that it is possible to unite the entire nation through sports, regardless of party or opinion. He made these remarks on Tuesday at the inauguration ceremony of the national-level competition of “Notun Kuri Sports 2025-26” held at the Sayed Nazrul Islam National Swimming Complex in Mirpur.

The state minister stated that alongside a united Bangladesh, there is no alternative to sports for good health, and the practice of sports is what can keep the youth away from drugs.

He informed that under the prime minister’s overall guidance, the auspicious journey of Notun Kuri Sports began in Sylhet on March 2. Following the successful conclusion of games at the upazila, district and divisional levels in phases, the national-level competition was inaugurated today. The current tournament will draw its curtains on July 27.

Highlighting the success of the inaugural event, he further mentioned that a total of 8 events were included in the first edition. Preparations for the second edition have already begun before the conclusion of the first. Registration for the second edition has already started from July 1 of this month.

Aminul Haque also stated that this time, competition will begin at the grassroots level by forming teams starting from the union level, maintaining a continuous flow of sports across the country throughout the year.

Encouraging the rising talents at the national level, the state minister assured that with everyone’s concerted efforts, we’ll be able to take the domestic sports arena to its desired goal. Those who perform well in this competition will be given full responsibility for higher education and professional sports through BKSP.

Youth and Sports Secretary Md Mahbub-Ul-Alam presided over the event.
