Commerce ministry team visits Hili land port

The visit was part of the Subregional Economic Cooperation Integrated Trade Facilitation Sector Development Program under the Cross-Border Paperless Trade in Asia and the Pacific.

A delegation from the Ministry of Commerce, National Board of Revenue, and Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission visited Hili land port and customs station in Dinajpur to assess progress on implementing paperless cross-border trade in Asia and the Pacific.

The 12-member team, led by Additional Secretary Ayesha Akter of the Commerce Ministry, arrived at the port on Thursday (August 14) morning. The delegation also included the Joint Commissioner of Rangpur Customs and two members of the Tariff Commission. They were welcomed by the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) along with customs and port officials.

The visit was part of the Subregional Economic Cooperation Integrated Trade Facilitation Sector Development Program under the Cross-Border Paperless Trade in Asia and the Pacific, a project financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Later, the delegation held a meeting with customs and port officials in the conference room of Panama Hili Port. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Aminul Islam was also present at the time.

During the meeting, port officials shared updates on import and export operations. The delegation then toured several port facilities to evaluate progress and examine the feasibility of achieving project goals.
