As a result, the ‘Brihottor Jashore Rail Jogajog Unnoyon Songram Committee’ is protesting for train services to operate from Jashore Junction to Dhaka instead of Padmabila Junction.
According to sources, the Padma Bridge Rail Link Project work is nearly complete. Once train services begin on this new route, the distance between Jashore and Dhaka will be reduced by 193 kilometers. The railway line starts from Kamalapur in Dhaka and passes through Narayanganj, Munshiganj, Madaripur, Shariatpur, Faridpur, Gopalganj, and Narail before reaching Jashore. With this rail link, it will be possible to travel from Jashore to Dhaka in 3 hours.
The people of Greater Jashore will have to board the train to Dhaka from Padmabila Station, which is 18 kilometers away from the city's main station, via the Padma Bridge. The station is about 40 kilometers from Benapole and around 50 kilometers from Kotchandpur Station in Jhenaidah. To travel to Dhaka via the Padma Bridge by train, people from this region must cover a distance of 18 to 45 kilometers to reach Padmabila Station. Therefore, to ease their travel inconvenience, they are demanding the inclusion of Benapole, Jashore, Darshana, and Kotchandpur railway stations on the Padma Bridge route.
Farazi Ahmed Saeed Bulbul, Joint Convener of Brihottor Jashore Rail Jogajog Unnoyon Songram Committee, said, "It takes more than an hour to reach the station, which is 18 kilometers away from the heart of Jashore city, Doratana."
Kawsar Ali, the convenor of Brihottor Jashore Rail Jogajog Unnoyon Songram Committee and manager of the national hockey team, said, "Therefore, we demand that trains from Jashore should pass through Jashore Junction. We will take further actions to achieve this demand, including blocking the railway if necessary."
Ruhul Amin, the General Secretary of Brihottor Jashore Rail Jogajog Unnoyon Songram Committee, said, "Currently, the people of Jashore have access to three trains for communication with Dhaka. However, once the Padma Bridge Rail Project is operational, only one train will be on this route. The people of this region will be deprived of railway services."
Aynal Hasan, the Station Master at Jashore Railway Junction, said, "We have not yet received any instructions regarding trains to Dhaka. If the ministry decides, the trains from Khulna can pass through Jashore Junction to reach Dhaka."
