The drilling officially started Sunday (September 28) when BAPEX Managing Director Engineer Fazlul Haque inaugurated the project at the Srikail site.
BAPEX said the well is part of its “Two Appraisal and Development Wells (Sundalpur-4 and Srikail-5) and Two Exploration Wells (Sundalpur South-1 and Joypurhat-1) Drilling Project.” Senior officials from BAPEX’s drilling and engineering departments attended the ceremony.
Under Block-9, the planned drilling depth for Shrikail-5 is 3,450 meters. The well holds an estimated gas-initially-in-place (GIIP) reserve of 62.87 billion cubic feet, with a recoverable potential of 50.30 billion cubic feet.
BAPEX added that the project is being financed and executed with its own resources and manpower.
