National Parliament Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad is set to travel to Tehran to attend the funeral of Iran’s late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He is expected to depart Dhaka for Tehran on July 2. The speaker will attend the funeral at the invitation of Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, speaker of the Iranian Parliament.

Speaking to Bonik Barta, Shairul Kabir Khan, a member of the BNP Media Cell, said that Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad would attend the funeral on behalf of the Government of Bangladesh and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

The funeral of the late Ali Khamenei will begin in Tehran on July 4, according to Iranian state media. Khamenei will be laid to rest on July 9 in his hometown of Mashhad.
