In the 13th national parliamentary election and referendum, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) secured victory in seven of the eight parliamentary constituencies in Tangail district, while one seat went to an independent candidate. Results for all constituencies were announced unofficially.

In Tangail-1, BNP candidate Faqir Mahbub Anam was elected with 153,932 votes. His nearest rival, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Abdullahel Kafi, received 94,462 votes.

In Tangail-2, BNP’s Abdus Salam Pintu won with 198,213 votes. Jamaat candidate Humayun Kabir secured 60,871 votes with the “scales” symbol.

In Tangail-3, independent (BNP rebel) candidate Md Lutfor Rahman Khan Azad was elected with 107,901 votes under the “motorcycle” symbol. BNP candidate SM Obaidul Haque received 82,769 votes with the “paddy sheaf” symbol.

In Tangail-4, BNP’s Lutfor Rahman won with 105,342 votes. Independent candidate Abdul Latif Siddique received 62,509 votes.

In Tangail-5, BNP candidate Sultan Salauddin Tuku secured 131,279 votes. His nearest rival, Jamaat’s Ahsan Habib, received 80,283 votes.

In Tangail-6, BNP’s Md Robiul Awal was elected with 150,952 votes. Jamaat candidate AKM Abdul Hamid received 91,914 votes with the “scales” symbol.

In Tangail-7, BNP candidate Abul Kalam Azad Siddique won with 141,253 votes. Jamaat’s Mohammad Abdullah Ibne Abul Hosain secured 71,040 votes.

In Tangail-8, BNP’s Ahmed Azam Khan was elected with 114,217 votes. Independent candidate Salahuddin Alamgir received 77,130 votes with the “deer” symbol.
