NCP unveils 24-point manifesto including demand for new constitution

Nahid Islam stated that the new wave of independence was not merely about toppling the government, but about dismantling the fascist structure once and for all.

Emphasizing that 2024 uprising was not just about regime change, Nahid Islam outlined a vision for a new Bangladesh.

Nahid Islam, the Convenor of the National Citizen Party (NCP), announced a 24-point manifesto on Sunday (August 3) evening at the Central Shaheed Minar.

Nahid Islam stated, “The NCP will ensure justice and punishment for all crimes against humanity committed under the Awami League regime—including the July massacre, Shapla killings, BDR massacre, enforced disappearances, and extrajudicial killings.”

He added, “A new constitution will be drafted through a constituent assembly to build a new state. State institutions will be reformed. Women's empowerment will be ensured. A welfare-oriented economy will be established with employment opportunities. An independent media and a strong civil society will also be developed.”

He further added that the new wave of independence was not merely about toppling the government, but about dismantling the fascist structure once and for all.

“The people of Bangladesh were the true initiators of the one-point movement,” Nahid said. “The previous government failed to implement the earlier nine-point demands. We want a country free from autocracy and fascism.”
