Mirza Abbas admitted to hospital in Singapore

On Friday, he underwent brain surgery at Evercare Hospital. Following the nearly three-and-a-half-hour operation, he was shifted to the ICU later that night.

Mirza Abbas, political adviser to the prime minister and a lawmaker from Dhaka-8, has been admitted to Singapore General Hospital for advanced treatment. He was admitted to the hospital on Sunday evening.

His APS, SM Mizanur Rahman Sohel, confirmed the matter. Speaking to Bonik Barta, he said Abbas’s physical condition is now somewhat better than before.

Earlier in the day, at around 11:30 am, an air ambulance carrying Mirza Abbas departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for Singapore. Accompanying him were his wife, Afroza Abbas, his son Yasser Abbas, and physician Zafar Iqbal from Evercare Hospital, Dhaka.

Mirza Abbas, a standing committee member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, was admitted to Evercare Hospital in the Bashundhara area after falling ill and losing consciousness during iftar last Wednesday. He had been undergoing treatment there under the supervision of a medical board formed with neurology specialists.
