BNP candidates sweep Manikganj’s three seats by wide margins

Nazmun Ara Sultana, deputy commissioner and district returning officer, announced the final unofficial results at her conference room around 1:30 am, based on returns from three postal centres and 515 polling stations.

Bangladesh Nationalist Party nominees won all three parliamentary constituencies in Manikganj district by decisive margins, according to unofficial results declared by returning officer Nazmun Ara Sultana.

In Manikganj-1, BNP’s SA Jinnah Kabir secured 137,773 votes, defeating independent candidate Md Tozammel Haque, who polled 77,818 under the “horse” symbol. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Abu Bakr Siddique took 71,310.

Moinul Islam Khan of the BNP took Manikganj-2 with 175,776 votes, more than double the 81,531 secured by his nearest rival, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis nominee Md Salahuddin.

Afroza Khanam Rita won Manikganj-3 for the BNP with 167,345 votes. Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis’ Muhammad Saeed Noor followed with 64,242 votes.
